Quantum Gothic: Tutorial

After last weeks post advertising some of Quantum Gothic's terrain pieces I thought I would share with you a tutorial they have on their website. It can be found here with any of my own thoughts in purple italics...

This is a general guide line only: practice to create your own technique. Here is a list of colors we have used (Games Workshop):

Chaos Black (Spray), Dark Flesh, Fiery Orange, Catachan Green, Ultramarines Blue, Codex Grey, Mithril Silver, Skull White, and Black ink. If using Citadel Paints you will need to use watered down Chaos Black or Black Wash.

Step 1 - Lightly wash the resins with soapy water and dry. Apply a uniform base of black undercoat and let dry.

Step 2 - Randomly dry-brush  'Dark Flesh'. Repeat this step if required and let dry.

Step 3 - Prepare a mixture of 'Catachan Green' ( or 'Codex Grey' ), 'Ultramarines Blue', a pinch of 'Black Chaos', a pinch of 'Dark Flesh'. Randomly dry-brush trying to reinforce and complement what you've done in Step 2. Let dry and repeat both steps if necessary.

Step 4 - Dry-brush 'Fiery Orange' all rivets, edges and any 'metal' detail you like to show. Let dry and repeat if necessary.

Step 5 - Apply watery washes of 'Black Ink' all around the bolts and rivets. Finally apply light strokes of silver and/or gold to edges.
