Spotlight: Winterdyne Commission Modelling

Another Spotlight that looks at a blogger I first discovered on The Bolter & ChainswordThe greatest forum of them all. This time we take a look at Winterdyne...

Dreadnought Vorneus
The above Dreadnought won a participant pin at the 2010 UK Golden Demons. The pictures below will help illustrate why Winterdyne deserves such an honour... and will no doubt get some trophies in the years to come.

The above Sternguard are the stars of this PDF tutorial that show how to prepare metal miniatures and then paint Ultramarines using Winterdyne's recipe which includes an airbrush. I particularly like how he actually explains, with pictures, the way he drills out the barrels of bolters... no more off-centred muzzles for me.

This Rhino is not to my tastes... Black Templars just get into the thick of it to get a job done. But it is still a stunning conversions. For those curious how he did the camo netting click the picture.

I'm going to take a go at painting black the way the Commissar was done. The recipe can be found by clicking the picture.

Space Marine Predator Agrippa is fully magnetised so that it can be switched out between the different variations. It is also the star of Winterdyne's other PDF tutorial which looks at magnetising Predators as well as working with Forge World products. Click the picture to see the Predator when its load out has been changed thanks to the magnets.

I particuarly like this conversion because the passengers can be removed. And it has been done in such a way  so that the Land Speeder Storm still looks awesome as you can see here and here.

Not sure why but I've always liked that ugly sculpt. Probably because I have always liked the ideas behind the Wood Elves and Dark Elves. Now I'm going to end up looking for her on ebay even though the newer sculpts are leagues better.

The Forge World Chaplain Dreadnought has always looked stunning. And this one is no exception. The weathering on the Multi-Melta is what really jumps out at me. Click on the picture to see other angles including one of the Multi-Melta.

Hopefully after seeing all of these amazingly painted Ultramarines there will be some greater respect for the boyz in blue. And for those interested in getting some nicely painted miniatures via commission you may want to consider Winterdyne who offers 15% off Secret Weapon Miniature products.
