White Dwarf 369 September 2010 - The Island of Blood

September's White Dwarf...
Inside this month's issue something like 50 pages are dedicated to The Island of Blood:

The Island of Blood - Andy Hall takes a peek inside the new Warhammer boxed game, interviewing Ted Williams and Dave Thomas about the great new miniatures. They really do look awesome. The Elven Steeds may not look like real horses but they look ALOT better than the current miniatures... rumours are that there will be new High Elf stuff.
The Valley of Damnation - The Skaven and the High Elves clash in a brutual combat on the Island of Blood. Adam Troke and Jervis Johnson go head to head in this month's battle repor, using the new boxed contents as the core of their armies. Jervis plays Skaven and gets beaten up by the guy who wrote the High Elves codex book...
Battle for The Island of Blood - In this article Jervis Johnson explores the background of the Island of Blood, taking a look at the mysterious Phoenix Stone and the Skaven plans for it. Is actually a detailed description... probably recycled from the book.
Battlefields: The Island of Blood - Dave Andrew has built a massive display board for next month's climatic Island of Blood battle report. Lots of eye candy and on page 47 there is some plastic High Elf statues that may be released to the public (like those Space Marine statues we used to see all the time).
Liber Apocalyptica: Chaos Daemons - The Scions of the Chaos Gods make war on an apocalyptic scale. We present new Daemon datasheets. One is for Khorne, another for Tzeentch, and then two mixed ... resulting in a thousands fluff Nazis crying out at once. And then being silenced by the nerd raging Stelek.
Painting Masters: Joe Tomaszewski - Joe is the latest inductee into our Painting Masters. We take a look at his finest miniatures. Lots of pictures but little in terms of actual painting suggestions...
Ask 'Eavy Metal - Eight pages with advice ranging from painting power weapons to painting dead flesh. They even dedicate half a page to painting Necrons in a tarnished colour...
Army masters: Christian Byrne - We showcase the army that Christian Byrne painted for The Lord of the Rings Grand Tournament. Mr Byrne has got to be one of my favourite contributors to White Dwarf. Who remembers back a few years ago when he started collecting an Iron Warriors army? Fucking fantastic army! Looking at his Orcs army has encouraged me to paint them... don't hold your breath for pictures.
Citadel Hall of Fame - In this issue Michael Perry nominates Brian Nelson's Warhammer Giant. For a multi-part plastic model it is an amazing piece of work.
Imperial Guard Tank Markings - We present the ultimate 8 page guide to detailing Imperial Guard tanks, from camouflage patterns to honorifics. A great read that will probably end up in the White Dwarf Archives online. Make sure you have masking tape handy if you want to achieve some of the techniques like on page 98 with the lightening bolts...

You'll also find full details of all the latest releases and news, a directory featuring all of the hobby activities in your local area, and this month's Standard Bearer, in which Jervis talks about why we run tournaments. Haven't been able to bring myself to read it yet. I'm expecting it will insult competitive gamers in some way or another... we are hobbyists as well.
