Empire Buildings

The guys at Games Workshop have out done themselves with their latest terrain kit, Skullvane Manse. The Tower of Sorcery, Dreadfire Portal and Eternity Stair are all examples of the direction being taken with Games Workshop terrain of late. The kit offers hobbyists a host of options when it comes to building unique terrain. In the latest What's New Today post Dan takes a look at some features of Skullvane Manse as well as gives some pictures of some very unique terrain pieces. As usual original commentary is below with my own thoughts in purple italics...

Music Monday - Zombie

Sitting at the computer deciding what I should do tonight. Finished the final exam for my degree the other week and now playing the waiting game for results to be posted. One subject has me nervous fingers crossed I don't fail and have to do a reassessment or worse. But I've now got a whole lot of free time on my hands. Something that I haven't had the pleasure of for well over three months.

There is some paper work on my desk that needs filling out for the job I've been offered next year.. waiting to find out my roster for work in retail over the Christmas holidays.. and then there is the battlefoam bag full of unpainted miniatures and boxes of unassembled miniatures.. plus meeting up with friends that have been left neglected due to university.

As for the title of this post... I'm currently going through my iPhone reacquainting myself with the music on it and I realised this wasn't on it.

As for what to do... think I'll also reacquaint myself with paint and brushes... need to redevelop the muscle memory and decide how I want to go about painting black after I stripped the painted of everything again. The miniatures by Mad Matt have completely changed my thoughts on painting black...

Weekly Finds #56

Instant Mold Review and Tutorial by Hellspawn from Chest of Colours - While procrastinating on Bolter and Chainsword I came across this post that linked to the review and tutorial by Hellspawn. I've read about Instant Mold in the past. But never given any thought to using it. But after seeing some of the work by Ron and Lamenter using Blu Stuff as well as some tutorials on resin casting, this article has got me curious.

Forge World: Newsletter 288

If I was a fluff nutter this would be a perfect opportunity to go on about how Black Templars hate the witch, xenos and heretic... and therefore since I play them must share these feelings. Fortunately, I am not a fluff nutter...
Hi there,
In this week’s newsletter we’ve got details of a new Phantom Titan weapon option and a new Eldar special character which are both now available to pre-order, as well as a reminder of our Christmas shipping deadlines – phew! Read on for more…

Weekly Finds #55

Knight Baron by Adeptus Custodus from The Bolter & Chainsword - While looking for details in Knight Titans came across this post on the B&C. Was a very nice surprise. This is possibly the best quality Knight Titan I've come across to date. It looks like the right height, as it dwarfs a Dreadnought. The limbs are bulked out. My only issue is the feet. However, using Dreadknight feet would solve that problem as seen here.

Greenman Design Inc

Came across this video on Sunday while looking inside Brent's digital head. I'm glad I did because it looks like I've found the solution to craters for all of my Rhinos six built at the moment with more on the way. This will be much easier than using ripped up pieces of paper or making my own craters out of movement trays. The thin design will be convenient as I'll be able to fit them all into my Battlefoam bag. Looking forward to when gdesign.com goes live.

The Lord Inquisitor - Trailer

I've been following this project for a while. The quality of the animations is just mind blowing. It puts Ultramarines: The Movie to shame...

... let's hope that Games Workshop realize how good this is and doesn't try and stop it.

Weekly Finds #54

When this post goes up I'll either be off celebrating with friends for the end of university semester or I'll be at Tin Soldier throwing dice. Either way will be a great way to end the week. Below are the things on the interwebz that captured my attention for the week...

Lamenter's Actual Scale Space Marines by Lamenter from The Bolter & Chainsword - Sculpting work by Lamenter is always stunning. But it is the little symbol on the left shoulder pad that has interested me. Going to have to give that a try some time in the future. Also got the mechanical talons in the mail this week... quality is stunning and look forward to putting them to use.

Weekly Finds #53

Today was my last day of clinical placement. Started off slow and picked up within a few hours. Too tired to head out to Tin Soldier for some games. Instead relaxing at home and trying to ignore the nagging at the back of my mind to finish/start my assignments. Despite being too tired to game still managed to amass a collection of articles...

Blanchitsu Pays A Visit In The Rat Hatch by izeColt from Spiky Rat Pack - I'm a huge fan of Blanche's work. I doubt there are many GW hobbyists who aren't. This Inquisitor Warband has his magic touch... and best of all he has given me ideas on how to take the Cairn Wraith and give it a 40K feel.
