Weekly Finds #70

Reviewing RDG Tools 3 in 1 Airbrush Cleaning Pot by Garfy from Tale of Painters - A look at an air brush cleaner. This one seems rather cool as it also includes a palette and an airbrush holder. The other brands that I've seen also include the paint holder. Iwata also offers a cleaning pot as well as this rather funky naked jellyfish from Harder & Steenbeck.

Tooltime: Part 3 by Pirate Viking Painting from Pirate Viking Painting - A look at some products that hobbyists should consider including in their tool box. I've already featured articles on using micro sol and micro set for applying decals. Weathering powders have some negative points, which Ron has looked at, but as some of the best painters I've ever seen have shown it can produce stunning results. And it is something that works just as well for table top miniatures as it does for display pieces. I have no experience with enamels, but it is something that may find it's way into my collection of tools. And basing stuff is abundant.

Vallejo Surface Primer by Garfy from Tale of Painters - Coloured primers are popular due to the flexibility it offers to painters. Saving loads of time when it comes to painting line troops as well as tanks. However, liquid primers that are applied using airbrushes takes this concept to a whole new level. Offering far more control with application...

Sculpting Tyranid Spore Mine by Ron from FTW - This sculpt looks great. The tools used are something I've been eyeing for awhile. Seeing them in use has reinforced why I was interested in them originally. Still waiting for masq-mini to get the acrylic plate into stock... and it looks like Green Stuff Industries has brought out some new tentacle makers. This gives them three different cuts.

Building Display Bases by Andrew King from Miniature Miscellany - There are lots of tutorials on building up display bases. I have even feature some of them on the blog in the past. However, this is the first time I've seen someone suggest simple jaw lids and the such as the basis of the plinths. And for those curious here is the tutorial on painting the yellow.
