Weekly Finds #68

Ork Thunderhawk by Loken from Apocalypse 40K - This is an amazing scratch-build by Romeo from Battlefoam... yes you read that right, scratch-built. I can't not look at this and think Thundaork. Since seeing this I've been tempted to start collecting an Orks army just so I can scratch build all sorts of Orky things. As well as an excuse to buy an Ork Kill Busta Tank.

Apocalypse Fortress Walls by Wildeyejester from Hogs of War - Some great inspiration for Apoc scale terrain. Wildeyejester shows what can be achieved using limited plastic kits alongside plasticard, cardboard and particle boards. I like the addition of the two buildings on top of the towers. Can easily imagine them as shrines or chapels...

Deeper Into Perfect Madness by okkiW from Spiky Rat Pack - I'm a fan of the Emperor's Children fluff. They are in my top three favourite Legions the others being Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors. This copy from one of the old Games Workshop Source Books is not only a great find but shows the true nature of Fabius Bile... Imperial Propaganda wants us to believe he isn't loyal to his Legion.

The Army Painter Warpaints by Stahly from Tale of Painters - A look at Army Painter's range of paints. This is a thorough review that looks at key points. Stahly does a great job comparing the different  brands and goes into more detail then he did on the Reaper Master Series. If your interested in giving them a try and your local game store doesn't stock them you can always pick them up from Wayland Games.

Greenstuff Banners with Raised Detail by Ron from FTW - Ron takes an interesting approach to building detailed banners. A slightly different approach is using a relatively flat plastic banner with no details. This would mean that the banner already has some of the folds, but can still be changed around. Looking forward to see what else Ron comes up with using his new technique.

Tutorial: Rev's Caestus Assault Ram by Rev from Tale of Painters - This is a brilliant tutorial. It goes into a fair bit of detail on some of the theory of using an airbrush as well as some of the techniques available. I also encourage my Imaginary Friends to take a look at LuckyNo.5's tutorial on his Dark Eldar Razorwings if your interested in using an airbrush to paint large vehicle kits.
