Weekly Finds #67

Building Backdrop by Jakob Rune Nielsen from miniaTEXTures - A WiP that has me thinking of relatively cheap ways to add lots of terrain to the table. Particularly terrain that blocks line of sight. This is something that tournament organisers and game store owners should take a look at. Especially, since most tables have maybe one or two piece of terrain that offer skimmers and flyers any form of cover.

Necron Wraith Conversion by CVinton from Dark Future Games - A simple but great conversion. It fits into the aesthetics of the current range. And as CVinton points out uses bitz that should be laying around from building other Necrons. Another wraith conversion that fits the aesthetics of the current range is Xail's own Wraith conversion.

Review: Reaper Master Series HD Paints by Stahly from Tale of Painters - Paint is as much a tool as anything else you use to get your miniatures ready for the table. Each one has it's uses. And some people prefer certain tools over others. However, it is always useful to know what options are out there. Of course things will get shaken up with the release of Citadel's new paint range with a discussion here on the BnC and a picture of the new paint pots here.

Ice Magic: Making Icicles by David Soper from Sproket's Small World - This is an alternative technique to the one shown last week by Roman from Massive Voodoo. It is similar to this tutorial, also done by David Soper.

Swordmasters of Hoeth Part 2 by Volomir from Volomir's Blog - After Volomir's series on his High Elves Sea Guard, this series looks just as promising. I actually like his approach to pre-shading. Usually I see painters apply black primer and then hitting it with a white. But this approach is interesting as it keeps the overall white while still giving a guide.

How to add Brash Etch to Models by Ron from FTW - Ron shares some of his experience with brass etching and includes a video tutorial by Mister Justin from Secret Weapon Miniatures. Another tutorial that may interest my Imaginiary Friends is this one by Neues Ziel. It's a bit more involved, but will no doubt be helpful when working with complicated brass pieces. While on the topic of Brass Etching, PK-Pro has a range of pieces that may be of interest.
