Weekly Finds #46

University still has my life upside down and holding my hobby prisoner. So won't be heading to the Tin Soldier today. And I still haven't had the opportunity to touch my miniatures. But I have collected some articles for this week...

How to do basic zenithal highlighting by Ron from FTW - A great look at some of the theory behind this process. For those curious Grey Death, from TPC, also looks at basic zenithal highlighting. He focuses on using an airbrush to lay down the foundations. The black looks fantastic on his Terminators. Roman, from Massive Voodoo, also has a tutorial on the topic. And here is a tutorial that looks at priming, which shows how to achieve the effect pictures below...

The Life Guards: Praetorian Storm Troopers by Col. Gravis from Col. Gravis' Praetorian Imperial Guard - Seeing this conversion got me thinking of ways to turn the Cadian Hostile Environment troops from Forge World into Storm Troopers/Veterans. Could easily use the pewter power cables from Dragon Forge...

Pet Peeves and Outright Cheats by Brent from BoLS Strictly Average - We love you, Brent! The rule of the game is consistency... and tournament etiquette. However, be mindful that tournament etiquette is not taught in the rule book.

How to paint heat stained gun barrels by Ron from FTW - That picture looks so cool. The effect looks stunning and something I will have to try out when it comes to painting the assault cannons on my Dreadnoughts. The picture will also make great reference for subtle weathering.

Battle Brush Studios Painting Log by Sigur from Dakka Dakka - Sigur's red looks stunning as does the rest of his miniatures. Can see more pictures of miniatures in his gallery here.
