Weekly Finds #30

Busy week like the last two, but I've managed to collect a few more articles this time...

The KISS strategy by Spaguatyrine from The Back 40K - Players may not agree with everything Spaguatyrine has to say, but it is a thought provoking article that will challenge how some players think and behave. This idea, from Strictly Average, also relates to the idea of saving time as well as just being better organised for the heat of battle.

Sanguinary Phalanx Chapter Master WIP by Maz from Winterdyne Commission Modelling - I've wanted to collect an army with a Greek theme for awhile. At the same time I've wanted to collect a Sanguinary Guard army using the Flesh Tearers... seems like that is out the window after seeing this miniature.

Weekly Finds #29

Another slow week with only three articles... but this week has a greater focus on competitive play.

Rhino Tactica by Stelek from Yes The Truth Hurts - This is the sort of tactical guide the interwebz needs. Trust Stelek to know what to do and how to explain it. Always nice to see that the things you do on the table top are consider good by the competitive elite.

It has been a slow week for me on the interwebz...

Dreadnought Pallas's Tarnished, Weathered Base by SCC from The Bolter & Chainsword -  If I can overcome my OCD then I'm going to have a go at painting one of my Space Marine objectives with this recipe. Wait and see if anything comes of it...

Weekly Finds #27

It has been previously established that I am a big fan of Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Some might even be bold enough to say he is the only good writer for Black Library... some might even whisper that I'm a fan boi. Despite the unclean masses spewing forth loads of content to be picked up and thrown about by the rest of the unclean masses, the following post is all that captured my attention this week... for obvious reasons.

First Claw Concept Sketches by Aaron Dembski-Bowden from his blog - My fingers are unable to effectively communicate what goes through my mind. Something like this... cool ducking awesome... batman mixed with space marines mixed with pure evil... would look better as an Iron Warrior... heavy bolters are awesome... but not enough to be worth taking on devastators... he looks like the evil twin of the the Ultramarine Chapter Champion...

Tribes of the Orcs and Goblins - Jeremy Vetock shares his thoughts on adding character to an Orcs and Goblins tribe/mob/horde.

The Land of the Dead - A quick tutorial on painting Tomb King terrain as well as a look at some of the bits and kits that went into making the terrain.

The Valley of the Dead - A boring battle report between the Tomb Kings and High Elves...

Standard Bearer - In this month's issue Jervis Johnson shares 4 of the 'Top 8 Miniatures of All Time". The first is Chaos Warrior with Bone Armour, Second is Space Marine Tactical Squad, Third is Goblin Regiment and fourth is Morg 'N Thorg from Blood Bowl.

'Eavy Metal - Get some pictures of Tomb Kings and little comments... but nothing in the way of real advice on painting miniatures.

Army Workshop: Rise of the Crimson King - Despite being nothing more than table top standard, Duncan Rhodes' Tomb King army looks stunning. The use of black, red, white and bone gives some great contrast. Shame there weren't more displays of different armies like this one.
