Weekly Finds #78

Where I Get Inspiration From by LuckyNo.7 from Eye of Error - Some weird images... almost surreal in nature. They would all easily fit alongside the work of John Blanche. If any of my Imaginary Friends are into these sorts of images for inspiration should head over to Tears of Envy. Not only does she have several images of John Blanche on her blog but also the works of many other artists. Note that some of the art on Tears of Envy is not safe for work or children or prudes...

Adepticon by Brian from A Gentleman's One - All of these tables look great. None of them are out of place in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium. My favourite tables are the two matching ones pictured below. With some miniatures and some photoshopped smoke they would look like a real war zone... a city or settlement that has suffered the scars of battle. The industrial zone also looks great. Can see where Brian has used elements from the Heroes of Armageddon table from last year.

How to Paint like the 'Eavy Metal Team by James from Tale of Painters - Part II can be found here and follows on with using glazes and painting the dread white and black.

The Army Painter Warpaint Inks by Stahly from Tale of Painters - Stahly continues his review of different paint ranges. This time with Army Painters Inks which seem like a great replacement for the old Citadel inks that have now been long out of production.

Battle Damage to Plain Metallic by Ron from FTW - The same technique as regular battle damage. However, Ron goes about using white to help make the battle damage pop. The picture below emphasises his point. However, this would only work for silver metallics. Gold and bronze would require a unique approach. In the case of bronze this would be a verdigris effect.

Weekly Finds #77

Seven Quick Tips & Tricks for Best Painting by Ron from FTW - Some great advice for those just getting into the hobby or those who want to take some steps towards decent table top. And with the new Citadel Paints it is all the more easier to turn out some great looking miniatures...

Tyranid Red Terror Conversion by Garfy from Tale of Painters - I'm a big fan of Garfy's Tyranid Hive. This Red Terror conversion is no different. I like how his scheme has changed over time as his skills have developed... sort of like how Nids adapt to their surroundings.

Imperial Fists with New Citadel Paints by Tyler M. from Mengel Miniatures - Following on from last weeks traitor guardsman is this Imperial Fist with the new Citadel Paints. It is hard to imagine that yellow was once a colour left for the experts... of course the glaze method comes nothing close to the sort of results that DV8 and others have produced.

Painting Bone by Subtle Discord from Legion Rising - Subtle Discord has one hell of a Chaos Army. His army is full of individuality from the conversions to the paint job to the plasticard work on all his vehicles. The level of detail into painting the bone shows just how much effort gets put into creating this work of art.

Tutorial on Making Banners from Transparent Foil by Androsch from Tower of Heroes - A very quick and effective method to creating durable banners... relatively durable when compared to paper or cardboard banners.

Weekly Finds #76

Review: Citadel Paint Range by Stahly from Tale of Painters - With the release of the new Citadel Pain Range the interwebz have been flooded with the opinions of many. This is one of the best I've found. What jumps out at me the most about this review is that Stahly has looked at the history of Citadel Paints and how this has impacted on the new paints. Something that nobody else has looked at...

Triage Documents by Headologist from The Bolter & Chainsword - I'm two months into working in an Emergency Department and this was amusing when I saw it. Just as amusing as the doctor that goes around with Umbrella Corporation logos on all his equipment...

Apocalypse Primer: Hosting a Game by Chris Donohue from Apocalypse 40K - With the addition of the Land Raider Achilles to my collection I've turned my attention to Apocalypse. Without any Titans or Super Heavies in my collection these rules don't directly apply to me... but they may be something to bring up next time I partake in my FLGS Apoc Games.

Whose Voice Drowns Out All Others by Tyler M. from Mengel Miniatures - An awesome tutorial on painting yellow with the new Citadel Paints... it has turned yellow into one of the quickest and easiest colours to paint. It doesn't look as good as DV8's Lamenters. However, considering that yellow was a colour left for the professionals this will change things up dramatically.

Vostroyan Pained with New Citadel Paints by Drathmere from 40k Hobby Blog - Another miniature painted using the new Citadel Paints. This time the entire miniature was painted with the new paints. Nothing jumps out except for the vibrant red... with just a single glaze the red has become amazing.
