CNC Workshop: Miniature Scenery
I just came across these very clever terrain pieces after visiting The Painting Corps. Best of all is that Miniature Scenery is an Australian company with some relatively close stockists. Meaning that if I end up getting some of their products I won't have to worry about international shipping. Most likely get their base sets... the scatter terrain sets should work out cheaper than getting scenery from Games Workshops (like the Moonscapes).

Sniper Rifles and Ratlings
We interrupt your scheduled Tyranid article with the following post...
Recently Lord Solar Steve, from Dark Future Games, published an article on Sniper Rifles and more specifically on Ratlings. Now I'm no Guard player. One the other hand Sandwyrm and Stelek have extensive experience playing Guard.
Note: there are always exceptions to such broad statements. Like this 'Ard Boyz army list by Stelek.

At a measly 10 points for a model, sniper rifle, infiltrate, and scout, you can not really go wrong here.
- Lord Solar SteveFor 10 points that really does seem like a bargain. Until you realise that sniper rifles are not the best choice (explained below). And you aren't likely to take advantage of the infiltrate and scout rule... poor stats and then the rifle is already 36" (although re-deploying after the enemy has deployed is a positive). Stelek does a quick review of Ratlings. And once your done with experimenting with Ratlings you can see the better Elite choices here. As for the Sniper Rifle which Lord Solar Steve covers in the second half of the article.
The most important thing to remember about Ratlings though is indeed the -sniper rifle- as it not only wounds any creature, from your normal space marine to a Wraithlord your local Chaos Daemon players Scabieathrax from Imperial Armour on a 4+ it takes their -ARMOR SAVE- on a 6 plus and can penetrate anything up to Armor 11 and glance anything Armour 12!
- Lord Solar SteveSandwyrm describes what Lord Solar Steve is talking about as the Anti-Tank Myth and the Monsterous-Creature Myth. And he does a good job in being a MythBuster in his article. There is Mathhammer involved in Sandwyrm's article. So you have been warned.
Note: there are always exceptions to such broad statements. Like this 'Ard Boyz army list by Stelek.

AbusePuppy's Tyranid Review
The original review by AbusePuppy can be found here over in Warseer. However, in all honesty I generally dislike forums like Warseer and Dakka Dakka for several reasons. So I'll be providing the links from Kirby's 3++ is the new black.
If you have any questions you can contact AbusePuppy either by Warseer or Kirby's Pinktastic blog.

Simple Blogger Tips
This isn't hobby related. But it is blog related.
Being new to the whole blogging experience meant that I needed to find solutions to certain problems I came across. Google was helpful in finding some answers. But I wanted to find one site that had useful resources collected in one location so I could avoid sifting through countless Google hits. My saviour came in the form of Simple Blogger Tips. Although it doesn't have an answer to everything (or even alot of things). It has come in handy. Such as how to make links that open in new windows or tabs. Of course there are other useful sites out there.

How Tyranids Will Change Your Game
The beginning of my Tyranid series...
This is a totally new Codex, built like the Imperial Guard and Space Marine Codices--designed to last the test of time, through the rest of this edition and into 6th edition.
- Stelek
The inability to understand something so simple as what Stelek is describing exposes just how stupid some of the Old Guard of the Tyranids are. The second anonymouse poster here is a perfect example of how stuck up and arrogant they can be. They have failed to adapt to their changing environment... ironic.
The following links explore how Tyranids have changed the way the game is played. By the end of this mini-series by Stelek you will be better prepared in your evolution into a thinking gamer. Just make sure you don't develop an irrational fear of bugs by the time you get to Part 10.
