Weekly Finds #32

Exams start next week... should be interesting to see what happens.

Turning cardstock into plasticard by Ron from FTW - Was going to send Ron an email asking if he could clue  those who follow his blog into what super glue he is talking about. Was curious if he used a specific brand. But it looks like it doesn't matter so much about the brand but rather how much of it you use. I've found that the Games Workshop super glue dries with a rough texture if too much is used. Imagine the same is for all brands...

Properly Valuing Units by Nikephoros from Bringer of Victory - An interesting take on valuing units. Nikephoros' article encourages the reader to critically evaluate their units during the game, not just when writing the list. Another thing to consider is Nikephoro's 40K-metric system.

Ecclesiarch Super Heavy Exorcist by Hudson from his blog - This super heavy looks utterly awesome. It would be awesome if Games Workshop came out with an actual kit for this or if one of the third party producers made a resin kit.

Flesh Tearers by Ron from FTW - One of my all time favorite Chapters. Ron's approach is more detailed than the one used by Duncan in White Dwarf. It also produces a much nicer finish which should be no surprise. I also like Ron's short tutorial on how he painted the grey base. My only issues with the finished miniature is the intakes on the Jump Packs. The fans could do with some more shadowing.

Cleaning your files by Nesbet from Nesbet Miniatures - I have three sets of files... and all of them are caked with grit with some even having a layer of rust. So looks like when I head down to Tin Soldier I'll have a look around to see if they have any lacquer thinners in stock. As for the rust... while your having a look at Nesbet's blog also have a look at this post. Another thing to add to the never ending list of things for my hobby.

Leather Tabards by Ron from FTW - The actual article focuses on adding extra detail to miniatures with the leather tabard tutorial as an example... but it is something that alot of Space Marines players may be interested in. Especially after Ron did the guide on turning cardstock into plasticard.
