Ghost Recon Alpha - Official HD Film

I must confess the Ghost Recon games never really caught my attention. It may have something to do with my disinterest in Call of Duty. However, this short film did get my attention thanks to Tears of Envy... reminds me of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers.

Weekly Finds # 81

Using Bricks by Roman from Massive Voodoo - These look like awesome little extras for basing. Or could easily be used to give gaming table some character by stacking them to create crumbling walls or roads in disrepair. Can pick them up from PK-Pro and Secret Weapon Miniatures.

Kapturowskis Space Wolves by Kapturowskis from the Bolter & Chainsword - Normally I despise Space Marines that have been dry brushed. However, these Space Wolves look utterly amazing using such a simple process. Kapturowskis also has some great look Death Guard and Grey Knights. Well worth a look...

New Sculpts Incoming by Col. Gravis from Col. Gravis' Blog - These would work nicely with Victoria Lamb's own conversion pieces.

How to Make Waterslide Transfers by Ron from FTW - These is also this tutorial by Ron on how to apply transfers onto miniatures. There are other tutorials on transfer application such as this one from Tale of Painters and this one by Pirate Viking Painting.

Weekly Finds #80

I bought a house! Now comes the build up of excitement and stress as I get ready to move out of home. Plus the realisation that everything is going to change. Including the amount of free time to spend on my hobbies...

Gaze of Medusa by LilLoser from LilLegend Studio - The current Morathi shows it's age. Especially when compared to the newer additions to the Dark Elves range. Conversions like this not only bring it into line with the current kits but also match nicely with LilLoser's other Dark Elves. Can see the finished piece of work here.

Glory and Hate! by 1000heathens from the Bolter & Chainsword - These aren't the crispest looking marines. Yet the conversion work and the back stories are great. The below kit bash is without a doubt my favourite. It uses the very out dated Chaos Dreadnought as the foundation and works up layers of bad assery.

Maorians by Morback and Urlock from The Blog de Kouzes - A beautiful miniature... pose, conversions, base and free hand on helmet all come together. Alongside the Iron Angels this my favourite miniature from the Paint Master Astartes series. This is also the end to the Paint Master Astartes series on Le Blog de Kouzes.

How to Paint Novamarines Quartered Scheme by Ron from FTW - This is applicable to other armies such as Howling Griffins as well as adding heraldry to Space Marines in general just on smaller scale. I love the freehand that covers this Assault on Black Reach terminator. If it weren't the the icon on the right shin I'd have thought it was a multi-part kit.

Weekly Finds #79

Highlighting Black by McVey from Studio McVey - A different look at painting black by the extremely talented McVey. This technique is something between wet blending and extreme highlights...

Gothic Sentry Tower by 2500kgm3 from Bolter & Chainsword - These are a bit rough when compared to the kits coming out from Games Workshop et al. But then again these are hand crafted. Overall  fan-fraggin-tastic and would look great in a war torn themed table.

True Scale Dark Angel 5th Company by Angels Blade from Bolter & Chainsword - These are more in-line with Lamenter's Artscale Space Marines than Doghouse's Truescale Space Marines. Regardless they look great. I particularly like the mix from different kits and marks of armour.

Sci-Fi Machinery by Morback and Urlok from Le Blog e Kouzes - The Walker Pilgrimage and the Bismork are my two favourites out of these. Both fit in great with the background. Especially the Bismork, pictured below, which looks like it is held together by sheer will power of the gretchin crew.

Colour Theory for Miniature Painters by Pirate Viking from Pirate Viking Painting - A look into colour theory from a miniature painter. Sandwyrm has done an extensive and highly detailed series on the same topic. If you want a quick read then give Pirate Viking's article a go. If your after something more head over to The Back 40K.

The Bastion by Stelek from Yes The Truth Hurts - This is a tactic I'll have to try with my Terminators... having two squads of them offers in theory two bastions. This method of deployment works particularly well for me as placing my Terminators centrally ensures that their Storm Bolters have greater reach of the board.
