Can easily imagine each of them working alongside an Inquisitor... each with their own motives and agendas. However, it is the henchmen below that really jumps out at me...

Imperial Knight Titan by Tim from The Tau of War - The use of orange on Knight Titans really works as they suddenly look like knights trying to display their heraldry. As opposed to war machines covered in mute colours for camouflage. Tim sharing his inspiration on this miniatures makes it all the more characterful.

Rogue Trader Conversion by Andy Hoare from Tales from the Maelstrom - This isn't the first conversion that I've instantly fallen in love with from Mr Hoare. His Inquisitor is just as awesome. Took me a while to realise that the body actually comes from the new Tempestus Scions box set.

Commisar WiP by Henry South from Four Go to War - One of my favourite miniatures from the relatively new clamp-pack sets that Games Workshop has started to release. Mr South has given this miniature some great justice and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't show up at the next UK Golden Daemons.

How to Create Newspaper by Roman from Massive Voodoo - It's the year of the painter over on Massive Voodoo. Which means that they are hitting out tutorials on an alarmingly frequent rate. So quickly in fact that it wouldn't be practical for me to do a post for each of them such as the review on ModelMates' Verdigris or the tutorial on Airbrush Masking. So instead here is one for the post-apocalypse fans.

Stryderre Stalker in Shadows by Kari from Spiky Rat Pack - This is creepy... it is the Imperial version of a Mandrake crossed with a zombie. The back-story written below is also a great touch. However, the nice surprise and the reason for this week's focus was the link at the end of this post.

The Art of Schwager by Fulgrim from Tears of Isstvan - I've never come across this blog in the past as far as I can remember. Which is a shame as it is full of great resources. The sketches below are just one example of the resources available. The Bretonnian Battle Pilgrims and Dark Eldar Warriors would offer some great starting pieces for some of the sketches below... Can see some of Christian Schwager's work on his website and blog such as this Medicae Servitor.

I've got the house to myself today and have managed not to spend half of it sleeping... just a quarter of it. Which means I've had time to build miniatures and explore the interwebz.

In the Name of the Inquisition... by Dan Harden from What's New Today - Grey Knights and allied cannon fodder Imperial Guard by Koen Cambre. The heavy weathering on the Guard contrasts nicely with the Grey Knights. However, it is refreshing to see some Grey Knights that aren't crisp and clean with Koen adding in some minor weathering. The weathering along with the bases helps tie the two forces in together far more effectively than the colour palette.

Wreck Age Table Remake (3) by Brian from A Gentleman's One - I'm sure the interwebz is familiar with Brian's terrain making skills. He is the mastermind behind The Heroes of Armageddon display table and the Killzone tables. If you are looking for inspiration for scenery his blog is probably one of the first places I'd direct you to... plus it is free unlike the Forge World team.

How to Make Plasticard Orc Shields by Gareth from Tale of Painters - A simple tutorial that produces some unique results. As can be seen on Gareth's Big Un Mob. Can also use this tutorial to produce some Black Orc styled shields.

It's Flicker Thursday by Dan Harden from What's New Today - An amazing Contemptor Dreadnought by Patrick Schimak. Can see more of Patrick's amazing collection on the Games Workshop Flickr page.

40k Metrics: Building Better Devastator by Nikephoros from Bringer of Victory - I'm a big fan of Nikephoro's metric posts. This one particularly caught my attention as I'm a big Iron Warriors fan. And for me Havocs fit into the imagery of Iron Warriors just as much as tanks with big guns. So it was a pleasant surprise to find out that Havocs carrying Autocannons are kings at killing light mech.

A Peek Under The Hood by izeColt from Spiky Rat Pack - Interesting concept... reminds me of John Blanche's weird and wacky artwork. But then again, izeColt has been heavily influenced by John Blanche's work.

Pigment Bases by Morback from Le Blog de Kouzes - I've seen several tutorials on applying pigments to miniatures especially tanks. But applying it to bases is something I can't recall seeing. As the below picture highlights very well, it is a technique that can really make a base pop.

How to Draw Skulls Forge World Style by Ron from FTW - These are more than just Forge World Skulls. These are Games Workshop's signature skulls. Pictures of these can be seen throughout codices and rule books. If I ever getting around to collecting and then painting an Imperial Guard army these skulls will decorate all of the vehicles...

Crimson Fist Forgeworld Apothecaries WIP by Sigur from Tale of Painters - Some of my favourite Forge World miniatures. Can't wait to see how these turn up when completed. The rest of Sigur's Crimson Fists are great... a little over the top when it comes to the weathering... but they look like they have been to hell and back. Something that all Space Marines should look like.

Scratchbuilt Inquisitor Mystic & Tools Review by Ron from FTW - This is possibly the best conversion Ron has produced to date. It just screams Grim Dark. Another "tentacle" maker is Masquerade Miniatures which offers three different sizes. Masquerade Miniatures also have another tool to consider when it comes to making unique, scratch built miniatures with their aptly named fur pattern tool... it doesn't make fur, rather it produces results that are similar to the texture of fur.

Mariners Blight Sorcerer by LuckyNo.5 from Eye of Error - To start off this weeks gallery of Work in Progresses is this amazing collection of bits. I love everything about this miniature and his Terminator brethren. This is going to be one amazing warband when completed... especially when you consider LuckNo.5's talents with a brush.

Sculpting Mustaches, Mohawks and Beards by Ron from FTW - I was wondering how hobbyists such as Ron go about adding hair to their miniatures... now I know. I am a fan of Marines with mohawks. However, it looks like getting it in the right place is just as important as getting the detail on it. The guide on creating mustaches is great for Black Templars.

Despite my brain being completely fried from work, I've managed to amass a large collection of twelve articles this week. They range from tutorials on sculpting all the way to the correct movement of vehicles. This week also sees the release of the much awaited expansion for both 'Nids and Space Wolves. It looks like I may be collecting a non-mechanised Space Wolf army... time will tell of course.

Servo Skull Collector by Jakob Rune Nielsen from miniaTEXTures - This miniature oozes with individuality. I can just imagine the servo skull collector being right at home in a John Blanche painting. It even has a small shield on his should like many of Blanche's own miniatures.

The Lord Inquisitor - Updates

It has been a while since I had a look at the progress on The Lord Inquisitor. It would have gone on even longer if I hadn't of noticed this post by Alec over at Apocalypse 40K. Two amazing announcement have recently been made...

Games Workshop decided to finally give me the 100% green light for this project and now this project is totally free and don’t has to hide anymore. The Emperor listened to our prayers and made the impossible possible: The first allowed fan movie for Warhammer 40,000

- Erasmus in Born to be free from The Lord Inquisitor

It looks like Games Workshop realised just how ball aching good this really is. And it isn't just Games Workshop that realised just how awesome this is...

The main story writer for The Lord Inquisitor is Aaron Dembski -Bowden, well known for his Warhammer 40,000 novels for the Black Library and Horus Heresy. This is of course so cool, I don’t know what else to write – and there is probably no need for that.

So with the music composed by Adam Harvey we now have another fantastic and well known artist on board, what raised Lordi again up to a new level.

Sculpting Ultramarine Symbol by Garfy from Tale of Painters - The tutorial may be aimed at Ultramarine players. However, it is great for illustrating the importance of planning the process behind the design your trying to sculpt. Something that Ron from FTW has also talked about in the past.

It has been a busy crazy week for me. I've gone to Sydney Aquarium, Australian Museum, Taronga Zoo and today was the Power House Museum to see the Harry Potter Exhibition. Also found out where I'll be working next month which has gotten me excited. Fortunately next week will be more relaxed with my partner starting full time work after 3 years at University. Helps explain why we crammed in so many places to see in one week. Unfortunately, due to the busy schedule today, wasn't able to head down to the Tin Soldier to throw some dice. However, all of my finds this week were more than enough to give me my hobby fix...

How to Paint Space Wolves by Ron from FTW - This follows on well from last weeks tutorial on painting white. The method used to paint the black works well with the grey off white. It may only be table top standard but it pushes the quality of the miniature up a notch or two.

I've read about Instant Mold in the past. But never given any thought to using it. But after seeing some of the work by Ron and Lamenter using Blu Stuff as well as some tutorials on resin casting, this article has got me curious.

I've been following this project for a while. The quality of the animations is just mind blowing. It puts Ultramarines: The Movie to shame...

... let's hope that Games Workshop realize how good this is and doesn't try and stop it.

Blanchitsu Pays A Visit In The Rat Hatch by izeColt from Spiky Rat Pack - I'm a huge fan of Blanche's work. I doubt there are many GW hobbyists who aren't. This Inquisitor Warband has his magic touch... and best of all he has given me ideas on how to take the Cairn Wraith and give it a 40K feel.
