Last Minute Golden Demon Entry by Tyler M from Mengel Miniatures - A beautiful diorama for the UK Golden Daemons. Although I like the new Space Marine Captains that have come out for Apocalpyse... I have never been much a fan of non-combat poses for gaming pieces. Some of the Captains look like they are giving pre-battle speeches or the such. However, with a simple head swap and a sword Tyler has given me some ideas.

Pre-Heresy Death Guard by Durfast Spiritwolf from the Bolter & Chainsword - Another Horus Heresy collection to add to my growing list of must watch... I normally am not a fan of the Mk II armour due to the weird legs. However, it seems perfect for Death Guard.

Chapter of the Ruined King by noctus cornix from the Bolter & Chainsword - I'm loving the background fluff for this Horus Heresy collection. But what really jumps out at me is the Raptors. The combined use of the new Raptor bodies, the old Jump Packs and World Eater helmets is brilliant.

Huge Mistake by Gotthammer from Collegia Titanica - A departure from the usual look associated with the Brass Scorpion.  It is neither brass nor red. However, this approach could be used to create a cohesive look for several different daemon engines... although, painting all those lines and circles would drive anybody insane. But then that is what happens when you meddle with warp things.

Sons of Mortarion by Midian from the Bolter & Chainsword - And another Death Guard collection to keep an eye on. Especially if they turn out anything like Midian's Maze of Minotaurs...

The Truth About Cover Saves by Matt-Shadowlord from the Pinktastic Blog - A depart from this weeks looks at traitors, rebels and all around bad guys to look at Cover Saves... although, this tutorial on painting concrete features a depraved Dark Eldar.

The Blind Necromancer by Karun from Blog de Kouzes - With the release of the latest Eldar Codex there has been some great looking miniatures floating around the interwebz. This has to be my favourite. The conversion is just stunning.

Legion Rising from Subtle Discord from the Bolter & Chainsword - It's been a while since I last featured Subtle Discord's dark mechanicus project. Since then his thread has sunk into the ethers of the forum-sphere. Only to rise up again to spit out this beast. Shouldn't be long now before we get to see him sell some of his own kits. 

Staging the Set by Kari Spiky Rat Pack - Have you had enough of Kari's terrain. No? Good. Because, I am a huge fan of his stuff. Even though there probably isn't all that much special about it. Something about it just screams grim dark... especially. when compared to how the Games Workshop guys go about painting and displaying their own terrain,

Horus Heresy Blood Angels by Martok from the Bolter & Chainsword - The Contemptor-Mortis is probably one of those Forge World miniatures I wish I could have several of. They look deadly and have the  rules to pack a real punch on the table top. Martok's own Contemptor-Mortis does nothing but add to this. Also like the clever use of basing to change the usual gorilla legs of Tactical Marines.

Aiming Space Marines Tutorial by Big Jim from Galaxy in Flames - I'm currently in the process of trying to pull off this conversion. It is a royal pain trying to align all of the elements together. Hopefully my end results turns out half way decent. Big Jim also shares his receipt for painting yellow using Vallejo Colours.

Weekly Finds #100

The 100th post of Weekly Finds. Hard to imagine it has been going on for almost two years now. Over that time the blog has fallen into neglect more than a few times. I've finished University with my first degree, started working full time in a crazy arse Emergency Department and have made my first real steps into adulthood with the purchase of a house. And top top it off, this time next year I'll either be getting married or be on honeymoon... but enough of me reflecting on life. Time to look at what things have caught my attention this week...

Nurgle Cultists Troop Conversion by Ron from FTW - The Forge World Cultists kits look great. And from talking with both Mark Bedford and Jes Goodwin at Games Day Oz it seems like there wasn't much planning in making the Dark Vengeance miniatures matching up... and yet they do. Which goes to show how well defined certain elements of Chaos are. I'm curious to see how Ron goes about building the rest of the squad. The Nurgle Lord from the Fantasy range would look great included in this squad... just need some minor alterations. The Chaos Cultists unit entry from the up coming codex can be found amongst these photos.

WIP Thunderhawk Gunship by Garfy from Tale of Painters - More on Forge World... this time with Garfy's Thunder Hawk. Some time ago he detailed the process of preparing the miniature. Including the rather ingenious use of coat hanger wire to reinforce pieces such as the wings. We now get to watch the process of this huge kit being painted. The use of the white is great at breaking up all of the blue... curious to see if he does some weathering.

Slaughterfiend by Vladvar the Destroyer from Bolter & Chainsword - With the addition of Daemon Engines to the forces of Chaos this conversion will fit in great. Vladvar the Destroyer's Slaughterfiend shares several elements with Forge World's own Slaughterer... especially their Impaler version.

Tutorial: Artscale Terminator by Lamenter from Master of the Forge - It is always enlightening to see how the redonkulously skilled go about working their magic... There is also this article on sculpting that was featured several weeks ago. The armour banding that Lamenter creates may be of interest to those that want to add some chaos styled bands to vehicles and troops. Can also take a look at the tutorial on Artscale Space Marines.

Instant Mold Review and Tutorial by Hellspawn from Chest of Colours - While procrastinating on Bolter and Chainsword I came across this post that linked to the review and tutorial by Hellspawn. I've read about Instant Mold in the past. But never given any thought to using it. But after seeing some of the work by Ron and Lamenter using Blu Stuff as well as some tutorials on resin casting, this article has got me curious.
