Seekers of Truth by Royal Cactus from the Bolter & Chainsword - You don't often see someone taking the loyalist Space Marine Terminators and converting them into Chaos Terminators. But this has really worked. The powerfist is just awesome.

Pandemonium Genesis Cultists by Kouzes le from Blog de Kouzes - A interesting approach to washing some cultists. I've never seen matt medium used before. So I'm not sure how unique this approach is... but it's something to consider given that I've got 35 of these guys to paint. There is also Games Workshops own Youtube tutorial.

Tutorial Airbrush Faces by Lorenzen from the Bolter & Chainsword - I don't currently utilise the pre-assembly approach... however, painting faces and those hard to reach areas is a pain. There is also an older tutorial on painting faces by Lorenzen which looks at using washes as opposed to an airbrush. And while I'm at it his tutorial for painting Death Guard can be found here. And of course you can see Lorenzen's completed Sigismund miniature here. Because that miniature looks awesome with some hair sculpted ontop.

Harlequin Diamonds Tutorial by Dezart Fox from The Vanus Temple - This is just brilliant. Obviously doesn't offer the same sort of options that a free hand pattern has. But given how tedious free hand is, this is just brilliant. Plus get to play with the sort of scissors they gave out in primary school.

Do Not Miss by Volomir from Volomir's Blog - There is just so many awesome articles and miniatures on display in this month's installment. The Wraithknight pictured below is just beautifully creepy. There is also a tutorial on painting skin with an airbrush which includes an interesting set of paints from Vallejo. Plus other things like using feathers on miniatures as well as some completed greens.

Step by Step Tutorial of Pedro Kantor by Raffa from Massive Voodoo - This is described as a fast tutorial... yet for the vast majority of hobbyists this would be considered professional and garner lots of jealousy. I can imagine that on a stock standard Space Marine that lacks all of the extra details, this would indeed work out to be a fast tutorial. Especially, when you consider how few colours are actually used.

Number Crunching the Troops by Anonymous Foodie from The Back 40K - A different approach to comparing the value of units on the table top. To a greater extent this article helps poke holes into the argument that mathhammer alone should win games. A must read before considering the opinions of interwebz personalities.

Eldar Wraithknight by Third Eye Nuke from Tale of Painters - Third Eye Nuke's approach to painting his wraith constructs draws some nice parallels with wraithbone, and more specifically Forge World's Wraithseer. Yet the weathering breaks it away from the traditional clean look. The colour scheme used has similarities with TEN's Tau miniatures.

Video Tutorial on Painting Neutral Skin by Corvus from Corvus' Miniatures - This is a great tutorial for an above table top standard scheme... if your after something even quicker and with a warmer tone you can take a look at Garfy's tutorials over on Tale of Painters.

Building a Better Heldrake by Kraut Scientist from Dark Future Games - I don't exactly fancy the approach taken with the new Daemon Engines. That isn't to say the miniatures aren't nice. I just prefer Forge World's Decimator and Slaughterer. The connections between the Heldrake and Hell Talon are clever. However, Kraut Scientist's simple conversions look so much nicer. The head maw reminds me of the Hellcannon. Much better than the actual head which looks like a hybrid dragon and dinosaur.

Death from the Skies Rules by Darog from Darog's Company - For those who don't feel compelled to pick up the first Compendium released by Games Workshop in a very, very long time.

Warrior Priest by Ricky Upjohn from What's New Today - The bronzed armour on this warrior priest is great. Ricky's use of Gehenna Gold, alongside the Warplock Bronze, has given the armour a dull gold look. A look that I think suits most Imperial miniatures. The Runefang Steel is a bit too bold for my liking.

Review: Portable Airbrushing Spray Booth by Garfy from Tale of Painters - This is something I'm missing. Here is Rev's extractor with a tumble dryer hose. This Weekly Finds post includes some other useful airbrushing links.

And the Madness Continues by Dave Taylor from Dave Taylor Miniatures - Based off a piece of artwork in the main rulebook for this edition. It shows just how weird and wacky the Warhammer 40K Universe really is. A tutorial on making/using cables and wires for this monstrous construct can be found here.

Scarebrushing vs Airbrush by Rev from Tale of Painters - A look at setting up your own airbrush 'studio'. Something missing from this review by Rev is an airbrush cleaning pot. For me these are a must. It makes the quick cleaning between colours so much less tedious. Of course that isn't to say there isn't a need to properly clean your air brush after EVERY SINGLE USE. These things are an expensive investment, proper maintenance can keep them going for a lot longer. But then the time saved on getting a nice, clean basecoat on a squad of miniatures can be spent cleaning up afterwards. Another look at the portable spray booth and extractor can be found here. This is one thing I'm missing...

Vehicle Weathering How-To by Man Boy Genius from Spikey Bits - This is a brilliant series by Orc Nerd Painter. The streaking grime by AK looks so promising. Just look at the Eldar Titan pictured below...

Conquer the Universe by The Damned Artificer from Bolter & Chainsword - We revisit these amazing Imperial Fists. Since we last saw them The Damned Artificer has completed his stunning Rogal Dorn conversion and has added some paint. To me this is what Dorn should look like. I'm also jealous of the latest armoured addition in the form of the Typhon Siege Tank. I participially like the unique approach to adding lightening bolts...

Making Leather Loincloth by Raffa from Massive Voodoo - A useful tutorial for Fantasy players... but would also work for Orks and Chaos Space Marines. If the rumoured Imperial Guard plastics are true this tutorial may even be used to add some flavour to Feudal/Medieval Regiments. Can get texture pattern fur plates over on Masquerade Miniatures.

Painting Yellow by Les Bursley from Awesome Paint Jobs - Another video tutorial by Les. This time a quick approach to painting table top standard yellow. No easy feat when you consider how much hobbyists bemoan the colour yellow. With some extra effort may be able to produce a crisper result by blending from the base colour up to white. There is also this video tutorial by Les for painting red using the same approach. The Badger Paint Range can be found here with some candy colours in the Imagine Air range. I'm not sure if this is the same range Les uses...

Showcase: Empire Dandy by Rev from Tale of Painters - After last week, the guys over on Tale of Painters have managed to produce yet another stunning red cloak. The contrast on this isn't as extreme. However, I suspect the result would be much easier to replicate as it uses washes, instead of blending.

The Fly by Guita Rasmus from The Bolter & Chainsword - I've sure it has been mentioned before on the blog, but Nurgle is my least favourite Chaos God. Just doesn't appeal to me like Slaanesh or Khorne. However, the the followers of Nurgle have produced some of the best conversions I've seen. This fly, which has been featured on Games Workshop, is just one example. And you can see more of Guita Rasmus' warband in his thread here.

Weathering Models with Two Easy Spray Paint Effects by Sandwyrm from The Back 40K - These are two great effects. The bounce-spraying is something I've never seen before. Interesting technique to consider when it comes to connecting a miniature to it's base from a visual perspective. The use of dusting to break up colours is something I've seen in Forge World's Model Masterclass books. A great series that is worth the cost. Both of these effects can be produced with an airbrush... but spray paints are a great alternative.

Step-by-Step Vehicle Squadron by Martin Klug from (T)Raumschmiede - An extremely detailed tutorial on speed painting some Leman Russ Battle Tanks. In truth these are leagues above Table Top standard, with many of the techniques used found in Forge World's Model Masterclass books. However, if these steps were done in an assembly line, then it would be a relatively quick method for stunning results. And the chassis only requires three colours...

This week has a focus on the Legiones Astartes. Which isn't a great surprise with the Horus Heresy source book being released. I'm still patiently waiting for mine...

New Lord Plaguebone by Morback from Le Blog de Kouzes - This is one hell of a detailed conversion. It has taken me several attempts to work out how the helmet was made... it's a normal Space Marine helmet but from the back. The manreaper looks ridiculously complex with all of the plasticard bits. Hate to think how time consuming it was to build. A stunning centre piece for bind blowing warband...

Creating Metal Effects with Washes by Ron from FTW - Not strictly about the Legiones Astartes. But the content can easily be applied to any army. Another example of using washes on metal can be seen here... shows how coloured washes can have a striking effect and compliment the rest of the palette.

Lamenters Update by Dave Taylor from Dave Taylor Miniatures - The detail to this kit bash is stunning. Both the combi-melta and the left hand involve some intricate detailing. Looking forward to seeing this miniature painted up in Dave Taylor's striking yellow and black scheme.

Ultramarines Sternguard Step-by-step by Arsies from Arsies Studio - This tutorial was including in Volomir's  monthly feature Do Not Miss. I'm not much of a fan of non-metallic metal on power armour. However, I am a fan of this example of non-metallic metal by Arsies.

Imperial Fists Terminators by Bully Boy from Dakka Dakka - Despite having boxes full of miniatures to build I'm always looking for ideas on how to convert miniatures. These terminators with their Maximus styled torsos are just one example. My interest in this relates closely with this Terminator torso by Brother Chaplain Kage. Another great Imperial Fists Terminator conversion is this one by Ice Angel.

Sons of Horus by Sheep from Bolter & Chainsword - Possibly the best Sons of Horus I've seen... most look plain in comparison. However, the conversion and painting are both inspirational. The Sergeant pictured below and this Contemptor Dreadnought are my two favourite elements from this project so far. I'll be keeping an eye on Sheep's work...

Conquer the Universe by The Damned Artificer from Bolter & Chainsword - I'm jealous of this Imperial Fist collection. It's full of unique conversions with bits from all over the place. He even has an old school Land Speeder conversion with a run down of the bits here.

Maximus Armour by Gawain Veteris from Bolter & Chainsword - This tutorial may be of interest to some of my imaginary friends. I know the work on the knee pads interest me. Keep an eye out for further tutorials by Gawain... they look to be promising.

I've had the past week off work. Would think there would be a pile of built and possibly painted miniatures to show for it. Unsurprisingly that isn't the case...

Games Day Australia 2012 by Gotthammer from Collegia Titanica - This years was my first time attending Games Day. It didn't meet the expectations I've developed over the years from reading White Dwarf and then the interwebz. Mainly as there wasn't any sneak peeks or previews. Would have been very easy for Games Workshop to have done the pre-announcements for Forge World's Horus Heresy book and the reborn White Dwarf on the day. I also missed out on getting tickets to the seminars. They may be hiring a bigger room for next year. Fortunately, Gotthammer managed to attended all of the seminars and wrote up a summary. I've added some of my own points in the comments section... including things that Gotthammer didn't mention regarding the Forge World seminar. They had some standing room in the back. Bell of Lost Souls has used some of my comments and credited them with Gotthammer... once again they demonstrate the finer points of yellow journalism.

LXII Legion Auxilia by 1000heathens from The Bolter & Chainsword - These guys may not match Tyler Mengel's Astral Claws in paint job quality. However, 1000heathens has an amazing skill at converting miniatures. His Marines Malevolent are a great example of this skill. I particularly like the miniature pictured below. Curious what 1000heathens used for the rivets...

How to Paint Dark Vengeance Deathwing Armour by LilLoser from LilLegend Studio - This is part one of what looks to be a promising series. The guys over at Massive Voodoo achieved a similiar result using hair spray and salt. They posted a video tutorial on YouTube. This style of weathering is not limited to those with an airbrush. There is an abundance of coloured spray cans, such as Army Painter, that offer a simplified approach.

How to Paint Dark Angels Hard and Fast by Ron from FTW - This is far from 'Eavy Metal standards. However, it fits into something that Mark Bedford talked about at Games Day last weekend... develop a paint style that produces miniatures in a short period of time. The 'Eavy Metal team spend 7 hours a day painting Studio miniatures. They have the luxury to paint a single squad or regiment in two weeks. For the rest of us that would be soul destroying as Mark Bedford put it.

WIP: High Elf Dragon Lord by Volomir from Volormir's Blog - This is part 5 of another highly detailed series by Volomir following on from his Sword Masters and Sea Guards. It is interesting to see how light the green stuff actually is... as well as seeing the process of slowly building up the detail.

Building Deimos Pattern Predator Turret by Ron from FTW - A very cheap scratch built turret with some clever use of a ping pong ball. With some smoother seams this would look even more realistic.

Tutorial: How to Pain Dark Angels by Stahly from Tale of Painters - With the release of Dark Vengeance we are going to see a lot of green marines on table tops. So this tutorial seems highly appropriate for this Weekly Finds.

Review: Complete Guide to Photographing Miniatures by Raffa from Massive Voodoo - I'm far from needing a DVD Guide like this... I wouldn't even call myself an amateur photographer. Just one of those guys who uses iPhone to take pictures. However, I can see others such as my future self finding this extremely helpful.

High Contrast Effect for Metal Power Weapons by Ron from FTW - There are probably dozens of ways to creating the illusion of power weapons. Some involve the use of air brushes while others aim to create lighting to varying degrees. But this is probably one of the most simple, yet effective method I've seen. Something for table top standard miniatures.

Tutorial: How to Paint the Chaos Hellbrute by Garfy from Tale of Painters - It is looking more pink compared to the 'Eavy Metal version. However, I still like what Garfy has produced. Be great for all those pleasure cults.

Warhammer 40K Frequently Asked Questions from Games Workshop - An extensive update including a much needed Frequently Asked Questions for the rule book itself. Two of the rulings would have directly impacted the game I played last night. With one of them having a huge difference in regards to a C'Tan charging through terrain into some Terminators... the other resulting in much cries of angst towards Games Workshop by some Black Templar players.

Helmet of Horror Concept by Lil Loser from Lillegend Studio - A unique variation on the Talos Pain Engine.  It's nice to see an old haemonculus miniature being used. However, the current model is more suitable as it adds to the illusion of hanging from the helmet. The Penitent Engine pilots would also make for suitable victims with some minor alterations. Regardless, this is a stunning kit bash and could easily find itself in a Chaos Space Marine army. Possibly even an Ad Mech themed Imperial Guard army.

Mariners Blight Sneak Peek by Lucky No.5 from Eye of Error - This is one of the many armies I keep coming back to see the steady progress. Lucky No.5's ability to convert miniatures is disgusting with a great blend of kit bashing and sculpting. However, my favourite element of this growing army of decay is the weathering.

Masterclass Snow Effects by Jarhead from Massive Voodoo - There are heaps of tutorials on how to apply snow to bases with this being the third by Roman... my favourite methods are those shown by Mister Justin using how Secret Weapon Miniatures crushed glass.

Terminator Chaplain by RuneCast from RuneCast Blog - I love Rune Cast's Black Templar miniatures. They are mind blowing. Mad Matt does them justice with his painting. However, it is frustrating not being able to find the source of those hobby chains as the link Rune Cast provides is broken.

Saturday Night Report and Banana Milk by Jarhead from Massive Voodoo - Some great Work In Progress pictures of this bust. Get an idea of how it has progressed when compared with pictures from this post...

Shooting at Vehicles in Cover by David from No Turtles Allowed - This article caught my attention as it highlighted a minor but critical change from 5th to 6th Edition. The top of the vehicle hull has no relevance when it comes to determining vehicle facing. This was huge for me as there are several players at my FLGs who play with flyers... damn Necrons.

How to Airbrush Leathery Bat-Like Wings by Lucky No. 5 from Eye of Error - This looks to be a stunningly quick result. And I imagine the results could be further enhanced with techniques taken from David Soper's own tutorial on panting Scourge Wings. I also strongly suggest his guide on stippling.

Sixth Edition Big Yellow Book Missions Pt 1 by Kirby from The Pinktastic Blog - A simple break down of the new and, in my humble opinion, superior missions from a competitive point of view.
