Weekly Finds

Tyler Mengel's Nurgle Force by Nurgling6688 from Bolter & Chainsword - I've featured Tyler's WiP of Typhus. He is now making progress of some cultists to join his Nurgle force. These cultists are a nice blend of Games Workshop Bitz, Secret Weapon Miniatures skulls and Victorian Miniatures conversion parts. I look forward to seeing this collection grow...

Leaked High Elves by Volomir from Volomir's Blog - The elven races of the Fantasy Universe are apart of my top five. However, I doubt this release will push me towards moving to that game system. Regardless, I'm sure there are Imaginary Friends who would like to see these. Plus it add's some weight to the possibility that Eldar are set for June/July... Chaos Warriors and Chaos Space Marines came out back-to-back while Chaos Daemons for both factions came out together.

Tau Talking Points by Abuse Puppy from the Pinktastic Blog - With the recent release of the new Tau Empire Codex, it seems prudent to gain some insight into their units, wargear and special rules. Know thy enemy...

Weekly Finds

This week I ignore all of the Tau tutorials, reviews and what-not. Instead, I'm taking a look into Inquisimunda and Oldhammer...

Stryderre Stalker in Shadows by Kari from Spiky Rat Pack - This is creepy... it is the Imperial version of a Mandrake crossed with a zombie. The back-story written below is also a great touch. However, the nice surprise and the reason for this week's focus was the link at the end of this post.

The Art of Schwager by Fulgrim from Tears of Isstvan - I've never come across this blog in the past as far as I can remember. Which is a shame as it is full of great resources. The sketches below are just one example of the resources available. The Bretonnian Battle Pilgrims and Dark Eldar Warriors would offer some great starting pieces for some of the sketches below... Can see some of Christian Schwager's work on his website and blog such as this Medicae Servitor.

Confrontation by Fulgrim from Tears of Isstvan - A fascinating perspective into what is now Necromunda...

An Interview with Tony Ackland by orlygg from Realm of Chaos 80s - The above article on Confrontation was fascinating. But this, this is enlightening...

Kickstarter - Tablescapes by Secret Weapon Miniatures

There have been many Kickstarters aimed at members of our community. Very few of them have caught much of my attention. And none of them have made me want to drop some cash d. However, this may change with Secret Weapon Miniatures starting their own Kickstarter, Tablescapes.

Following on from Games Workshop's Realm of Battle Gameboard. The Tablescapes will offer hobbyists a gaming surfaces just as detailed, but at a reduced price. The Scrapyard is already funded and the "Clean" Urban Streets goal is close to being reached. And with still 20 plus days to go, it's hard to imagine that more stretched goals won't be achieved. With the kickstarter fully funded, I'm now waiting to see the Battlefoam Bag preview before I join others in supporting this project.

Their first company became mired in the defence of Amistel Majoris, bolstering the flagging defences of the Howling Griffons as they fought a gruelling trench warfare against Plague Marines of the Death Guard Traitor Legion.

White Dwarf 312 - Search & Destroy

Reference: The Iron Knights are a non-Codex Chapter with metal armour, black helmet and shoulder guards with unit markings painted in silver on both shoulder guards - the Chapter symbol appears on a tilting plate.

Weekly Finds #128

Mushrooms Tutorial by Roman from Massive Voodoo - Who doesn't love some skrooms with their resin crack?

The Exeter Crusade by Krikey from Bolter & Chainsword - The Caetus Assault Ram is one of my favourite Space Marine vehicles. Kirkey has done nothing but help reinforce that. The weathering and script work is just amazing. Can see the script work here before it is heavily weathered. Krikey's Chaplain is also stunning...

Weekly Finds #127

Sector Primed by Kari from Spikey Rat Pack - It's interesting to see how the angle of the pictures can really bring together some pieces of scenery. I am a fan of the use of extra pieces such as the barrels and the sand bags. Can see some of Kari's WiP pictures here.

Forge World Realm of Battle Cityscape Board by Opr8or from BnC - With the exception of some of the Games Day tables, this has got to be the most beautiful gaming table I've ever seen. I envy those that get to play regular games on this. Would never get boring. Opr8or's skills are not limited to jaw dropping gaming tables. His Legio Ignatum Titans are amazing.

White Dwarf - April 2013 Tau Empire

This month's White Dwarf Review is by Stahly from Tale of Painters. The tone of the review is almost depressing... but then the lack of real content could probably do that. Nothing stunning or insightful about the Tau release. Despite being the 400th issue of White Dwarf, there really isn't anything special about it. Haven't seen a freebie in a long time. The eight page spread of the Agrellan Refinery was nice... it looks good. And the use of yellow for the buildings was a pleasant change of scenery. But then this blows it out of the water. And off course once again the interwebz offers more unique content with Aaron Dembski-Bowden showing off Eddie's Dark Angels.
